One hundred years ago, a Belgian noble stumbled upon a curious little hill in the middle of the Lanaken woods. Being a huntsman, he was so taken by the remote, quiet location that he purchased the land to build a beautiful house on it. In the 1980s, this country estate became ‘La Butte aux Bois’.

Nowadays, you will find the five-star superior Hotel La Butte aux Bois right on the edge of Nationaal
Park Hoge Kempen. Located in the middle of nature, the lush and leafy estate covers 12 hectares
and offers a special habitat to wild boars and deer. The neighbouring park is home to robins, wild duck,
geese, and various birds of prey.
