In 1902, it became the home of the Grupo de Teatro Modestos, one of Porto's earliest and most influential theatre companies. Active until the 1980s, the group played a crucial role in the city's cultural life and helped launch the careers of many acclaimed Portuguese actors.
Today, this rich theatrical heritage lives on, making it the only theatre hotel in Porto. The former theatre auditorium has been thoughtfully restored to host cultural and private events, positioning Cénica as one of porto's most distinctive venues and vibrant social hubs.
